Sacraments

Sacraments at Newman

For questions or information about receiving a sacrament, call the office at 217-348-0188.

Sacraments are central to our Catholic faith. They unite the people of the Church as the Body of Christ and shape us on our paths to holiness. As you journey in your relationship with God or accompany a friend in theirs, you can learn more below.

Baptism

You are welcome to have your child baptized at St. Charles (the local parish) or Newman. Contact Fr. Michael Berndt at the office for questions, more information, and to set a date.

Adults seeking baptism take part in OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults).

Confirmation

At our Newman Center, any adults seeking confirmation take part in OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults). You can contact us at the office for further questions.

OCIA - Becoming Catholic

The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults is a formative process for non-baptized and non-confirmed adults to complete the sacraments of initiation and become full members of the Catholic Church. Call the office for more information and questions.

Serve at Mass!

If you are seeking to be more engaged in the celebration of the Mass, you can act as a liturgical minister. Greeting, reading, serving, singing in the choir, and being a ministry of Holy Communion are beautiful ways to participate more in the Mass. You can volunteer to serve one or more of the roles. Contact us at office to sign up and serve!
