Becoming Catholic

At the Newman Center, we welcome all who are interested in joining us. For those that aren’t Catholic, we also highly recommend RCIA. Starting in September, we will meet weekly to discuss the truths of the faith and answer your questions.

FAQs

When and where do the RCIA sessions meet?

RCIA sessions are held once a week in the Basement Library at Newman.  A new class will begin in Fall 2022.  Email Catherine if you are interested in starting or fill out the form above!

Who should attend the classes?

RCIA is for adults who want to be baptized, baptized Christians of other faith traditions who are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith or becoming Catholic, and baptized Catholics who have not yet received their first Communion and/or Confirmation.

What if I have another question?

Please contact Catherine if you have any questions or fill out the form at the top of this page.

How long does the RCIA process last?

For most people the process lasts for two semesters.

What does RCIA stand for?

It stands for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.

Are you high-pressure about becoming Catholic?

Not at all. We want to assist you in discerning God’s will for your life at this time. There is no pressure at all. We will help you through prayer, answering questions, and talking with you. We have several students who come to RCIA with the intention to learn and discover, but do not end up choosing to be Catholic.
